Green fluorescent protein (GFP) molecules are attached to titanium dioxide and cadmium oxide nanoparticles via sol–gel method and fluorescence dynamics of such a protein–metal oxide assembly is investigated with a conventional time correlated single photon counting technique. As compared to free fluorescent protein molecules, time-resolved experiments show that the fluorescence lifetime of GFP molecules bound to these metal oxide nanoparticles gets shortened dramatically. Such a decrease in the lifetime is measured to be 22 and 43 percent for cadmium oxide and titanium dioxide respectively, which is due to photoinduced electron transfer mechanism caused by the interaction of GFP molecules (donor) and metal oxide nanoparticles (acceptor). Our results yield electron transfer rates of 3.139×108 s−1 and 1.182×108 s−1 from the GFP molecules to titanium dioxide and cadmium oxide nanoparticles, respectively. The electron transfer rates show a marked decrease with increasing driving force energy. This effect represents a clear example of the Marcus inverted region electron transfer process.  相似文献

Recently, an aqueous particulate sol–gel process using metallic chloride precursors was introduced to synthesize zirconium titanate. In this paper, the effect of annealing temperature on the structural and corrosion protection characteristics of spin-coated thin films obtained from this sol–gel system was investigated. Based on scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and spectroscopic reflectometry studies, it was found that the flatness and thickness of the thin films were decreased by increasing the annealing temperature. Also, the corrosion protection of stainless steel AISI 316L provided by the prepared coatings, as analyzed by electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization experiments in a simulated body fluid, was improved in this order: 500 °C-annealed sample<900 °C-annealed sample<700 °C-annealed sample, attributed to a compromise between the defect density and the adhesion of the films to the substrate.  相似文献

Flux additives are known to expedite thermal ionic diffusion in the solid state, thereby lowering the activation barriers to ceramic synthesis and sintering. This paper reports the additional effects of flux, which is relevant to delicate color control of tantalum oxynitride pigments. Perovskites, CaTaO2N, SrTaO2N and LaTaON2, are potential inorganic pigments for yellow, orange and brick-red colors, respectively. The chromaticity of the above oxynitride is enhanced significantly using flux KCl in a thermal ammonolytic preparation. Such a variation of pigment color was correlated with the concentration of microstructural and compositional defects based on diffuse-reflectance absorbance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, N2 adsorption–desorption, and combustion analysis.  相似文献

The erosion resistance of CO2 corrosion scales formed on carbon steel was investigated in water–sand two-phase flow utilizing weight loss test, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The effects of CO2 partial pressure, stirring speed, test time, and grain size on the erosion resistance of the scales were analysed. Results show that several characteristics of CO2 corrosion scales are key factors affecting erosion resistance. Cubic polynomials are used to fit the erosion rate data, and effectively evaluate the ability of CO2 corrosion scales to resist erosion. An erosion mechanism, based on fluid dynamics and CO2 corrosion scales characteristics, is discussed.  相似文献

In this study, corrosion behaviors of carbon steel C1010 in the presence of an acidophilic, iron-oxidizing bacterial species Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans were examined. Results showed that A. ferrooxidans cells, with or without attaching to C1010 steel, accelerated its corrosion at a rate of 3–6× those of acidic water, at a pH of 2, without cells. A. ferrooxidans oxidized Fe2+ to Fe3+ as an energy source and the produced Fe3+ rapidly oxidized Fe0 to Fe2+ was proposed and verified as the reason. In addition, severe pitting corrosion was found on the C1010 steel surface in solutions containing A. ferrooxidans cells.  相似文献

The originally as-cast Al55Ni30Pd15 alloy was investigated during continuous heating from room temperature to 600 °C and after annealing at 600 °C for respective 455, 2650, and 4050 h. In the investigation the synchrotron X-ray diffraction and the high-resolution scanning electron microscopy inclusive of the energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used. In all the investigated conditions β-(Ni,Pd)Al (Pm3m) and Al3(NiPd)2 (P3m1) phases were identified. After 2650 h of annealing the former phase was found to be separated into two isostructural modifications differing from one another in Pd- and Ni-contents. The annealing for 455 h contributed to the decrease of lattice parameters in the Al3NiPd phase compared to the original as-cast condition.  相似文献

Cu2Cd1–xZnxSnSe4 solid solutions were synthesized, and their phase constitutions and thermoelectric properties were investigated. The solid solutions crystallized in the stannite-type structure for Zn contents x up to 0.65 and in the kesterite-type structure for 0.7 ≤ x ≤ 1.0. The lattice parameter a and cell volume V of the compounds decreased linearly with increasing x for both the stannite-type (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.65) and the kesterite-type (0.7 ≤ x ≤ 1) structures. The lattice parameter c decreased with increasing x for the compounds with the kesterite-type structure but increased for the compounds with the stannite-type structure. The c/a ratio increased with increasing Zn content, which indicated an weakening of the lattice distortion. The Seebeck coefficient tended to decrease with increasing Zn content, whereas the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity increased. The figure of merit ZT increased with increasing x over the composition range of 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.60 and then fluctuated with a further increase in x. A maximum ZT of 0.23 was achieved for Cu2Cd0.4Zn0.6SnSe4 at 720 K.  相似文献

Assessment and learning must not be considered as two separate processes. In fact, assessment is an integral part of the learning process; it can be learning experience in itself. Active assessment strategies help students better understand the content they learn and develop skills that will be useful to them throughout their lives. Some of those skills are the ability to prepare effective oral and written reports and the ability to cooperate successfully with peers. Action research represents the process of systematic inquiry and it helps teachers to assess learning from the perspective of what they do in the classroom. The purpose is to find out "why" or "how" something happened the way it did. Therefore, a situation or problem should be carefully examined by a teacher. Teachers should analyze their own beliefs, values, and assumptions about teaching and learning, knowledge and curriculum, and how these impact the way they interact with students. The growing need for the remote caring of patients at home combined with the ever-increasing popularity of mobile devices due to their ubiquitous nature has resulted in many apps being developed to enable mobile telecare. The Cloud, in combination with mobile technologies has enabled doctors to conveniently monitor and assess a patient’s health while the patient is at the comfort of their own home. This demands sharing of health information between healthcare teams such as doctors and nurses in order to provide better and safer care of patients. However, the sharing of health information introduces privacy and security issues which may conflict with HIPAA standards. In this paper, we attempt to address the issues of privacy and security in the domain of mobile telecare and Cloud computing. We first demonstrate a telecare application that will allow doctors to remotely monitor patients via the Cloud. We then use this system as a basis to showcase our model that will allow patients to share their health information with other doctors, nurses or medical professional in a secure and confidential manner. The key features of our model include the ability to handle large data sizes and efficient user revocation.  相似文献

The method of symplectic series discretized by finite element is introduced for the stress analysis of structures having cracks at the interface of dissimilar materials. The crack is modeled by the conventional finite elements dividing into two regions: near and far fields. The unknowns in the far field are as usual. In the near field, a Hamiltonian system is established for applying the method of separable variables and the solutions are expanded in exact symplectic eigenfunctions. By performing a transformation from the large amount of finite element unknowns to a small set of coefficients of the symplectic expansion, the stress intensity factors, the displacements and stresses in the singular region are obtained simultaneously without any post-processing. The numerical results are obtained for various cracks lying at the bi-material interface, and are found to be in good agreement with the reference solutions for the interface crack problems.
